About the role
The intern reviews daily security alerts, tunes tools such as Zscaler, CrowdStrike and Darktrace, and maintains security logs for audits. The role also involves organizing evidence for auditors and owning one independent project, such as a logging gap report or incident response guide. It runs roughly January to May depending on the university calendar.
What you will do
- Review, assess and document daily security alerts
- Configure and tune security tools
- Maintain security event logs and prepare samples for auditors
- Track reports from external security partners
- Own one independent security project
What they ask for
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in cybersecurity, CS, IT or related
- Coursework in at least two of: networking, operating systems, account management, incident response, security monitoring
- Comfortable reading logs and using spreadsheets; basic scripting
- Clear written communication
- Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship and qualify as a U.S. person
- Must be a U.S. person (citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) due to ITAR/export controls
- No visa sponsorship
- On-site in El Segundo, CA
Nice to have
- Pursuing CompTIA Security+ or Network+
- Home lab, club or CTF experience
- Familiarity with Okta, Vanta or the listed security tools
- Knowledge of NIST 800-171/800-53, ISO 27001 or CMMC
- Python, PowerShell or Bash
